Controversial media commentator Solomon Buchi has sparked heated reactions online after criticising Nigerians, particularly Yorubas, over the celebration of the Ojude Oba festival.
In a post that has since gone viral, Buchi expressed frustration over what he described as selective activism, arguing that social media outrage fades too quickly while cultural events continue uninterrupted.
“After a brief wave of social media activism, just calling out issues for a few seconds, a whole festival by Yoruba people went on with partying. In a sane country, that festival should not have continued,” he said.
His comment immediately triggered a wave of responses across social media, with many users defending the cultural significance of the festival, while others accused him of politicising a traditional celebration.
