Onuachu reflects on prolific Trabzonspor season after scoring brace in Turkish Cup final

Paul Onuachu has described every goal he scored as crucial after wrapping up a prolific 2025/2026 season with the Turkish Cup at Trabzonspor.

The Nigerian striker finished the campaign with 26 goals, playing a decisive role in Trabzonspor’s successful run to silverware. His form peaked at the end of the season, including a match-winning brace in the Turkish Cup final.

All goals carried equal weight

Onuachu insisted he could not single out a standout strike from his campaign, stressing that consistency across the season mattered most.

“Right now, I am so tired that I cannot really think of it,” he said. “All the goals I scored gave Trabzonspor a lot of points. All the goals were important for the position we ended up in. With the help of my teammates, everybody contributed. Long season. I am very happy to end it with a cup.”

He added that the collective effort behind the success was just as important as his individual output, crediting teammates and supporters for sustaining the team through a demanding season.

Cup redemption motivated the squad

Onuachu also reflected on previous disappointments in the Turkish Cup, explaining that those setbacks drove the squad’s determination to finish the job this time.

“This year, we could not lose the cup two or three times in a row, so the boys knew what was at stake. The boys gave everything, knowing that this is very important for Trabzonspor, the fans, and the city.”

The striker will now take a short break before linking up with the Nigeria national team for upcoming international friendlies against Poland and Portugal.
