Protest has reportedly erupted at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) after a tragic incident involving a 100-level student and cadets of Man O’ War Nigeria, leading to widespread outrage and tension on campus.
According to multiple reports, the Cybersecurity student was apprehended by the cadets over an allegation of theft involving ₦13,000. He was allegedly taken into custody for questioning, during which students claim he was assaulted for several hours. Eyewitness accounts further suggest that attempts by some students to intervene were unsuccessful, as the situation reportedly escalated.
The student was later said to have become unresponsive overnight while still in custody, a development that triggered immediate anger among students of Federal University of Technology Owerri, leading to protests demanding accountability and a full investigation into the incident.
In response to the unrest, school authorities have reportedly suspended Man O’ War activities on campus indefinitely, pending further inquiry. Calls for justice have continued to grow as students demand clarity on the circumstances surrounding the death.
