Pantami dumps APC, emerges PDP governorship candidate in Gombe

Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, a former minister of communications and digital economy has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and emerged as the party’s governorship candidate in Gombe state.

Pantami secured the PDP ticket through a voice affirmation by delegates during the party’s primary election held on Tuesday in Gombe.

Hon. Gregory Yenlong, chairman of the PDP electoral panel declared Pantami winner of the primary election after emerging as the sole aspirant in the contest.

Speaking shortly after his emergence, Pantami said his decision to contest was driven by a desire to serve the people of Gombe State.

He pledged to provide inclusive leadership anchored on fairness and justice if elected governor.

“I am in this race to offer service to the people of Gombe State, and I will govern with fairness and justice,” he said.

Pantami’s defection from the All Progressives Congress is expected to reshape the political landscape in Gombe ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
