Former Anambra State governor Peter Obi and former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso have reportedly left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and joined the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) in what is being described as a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The two politicians were said to have visited the NDC national secretariat in Abuja, where they were formally received by party officials and issued membership cards.
They were accompanied by several political stakeholders, including Victor Umeh and other associates.
Speaking during the event, Peter Obi explained that their decision was motivated by a desire to contribute to national development.
He stated that their involvement in the party was aimed at strengthening efforts toward rebuilding the country, saying:
