Speaking on the state of opposition politics .... ahead of the 2027 elections, Showunmi lamented what he described as a lack of clear alignment and commitment among key opposition figures. According to him, the inability of prominent politicians to decisively choose a political platform has weakened efforts to build a strong and united front capable of challenging the ruling party.
He particularly noted that expectations .... were high for a more coordinated political strategy that could galvanize supporters and strengthen opposition structures across the country. However, those expectations, he suggested, have not been met.
“Peter Obi has wasted my time; I expected him to pick a party so I could run with him, because I thought we could do that,” Showunmi said.
The PDP chieftain emphasized that unity, discipline, and clear political direction remain critical for any opposition coalition seeking electoral success.
