President of the Arewa Youths, Abdul DanBature, has dismissed the chances of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, becoming Nigeria’s next president, describing Obi’s promise of a single four-year tenure as a strategy aimed at winning support from Northern Nigerians.
Speaking during a recent political discussion, Danbature claimed that Obi “will only become Nigerian president in his dreams,” insisting that the North would play a decisive role in determining who emerges as president in the 2027 general election.
He further alleged that the four-year tenure promise being canvassed by Obi and his supporters was a “scam to deceive Northern Nigerians,” stressing that Arewa youths would not be swayed by such political assurances.
According to him, the Northern region remains a major political force in the country and would carefully evaluate candidates before backing any aspirant ahead of the next presidential election.
