According to him, his recent silence on political developments in the state was deliberate and guided by the overriding interest of Rivers State and the unity of the party.

Fubara disclosed that he had faced enormous pressure and difficult choices in the course of the political consultations leading to his withdrawal from the race.

He also expressed appreciation to the All Progressives Congress for providing him a platform, while specially thanking Bola Tinubu for his support and encouragement.

The governor urged APC members and supporters in the state to remain united and committed to the collective interest of the party, insisting that the APC remains one political family despite differing interests and ambitions.

“After deep reflection and extensive consultations, I have taken the difficult but necessary decision to withdraw from the APC governorship primaries,” Fubara stated.

“I remain committed to supporting whoever emerges as our party’s candidate.”

His withdrawal is expected to reshape the political dynamics ahead of the APC governorship primary in Rivers State, with party stakeholders now looking toward the emergence of a consensus candidate.
