Former Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Hon. Seye Oladejo, has formally declared his intention to contest the House of Representatives seat for Mushin Federal Constituency II, unveiling a legislative and grassroots development agenda targeted at education, youth empowerment, healthcare, economic inclusion and community welfare.
Oladejo made the declaration on Saturday, 9 May, 2026 before party leaders, supporters, stakeholders and residents at a gathering where he presented what he described as “The Pact” a social contract between himself and the people of Mushin Federal Constituency II ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APC stalwart said his aspiration was driven by the need to provide purposeful representation, responsive lawmaking and practical interventions capable of improving the lives of residents across the constituency.
According to him, his proposed agenda would focus on impactful legislation, human capital development and economic opportunities tailored to the needs of the people.
“This document represents my solemn promise to the people of Mushin Constituency II a commitment to purposeful leadership, people-centred policies and impactful representation at the National Assembly,” Oladejo said.
He explained that one of his top legislative priorities would be the proposed Lagos Special Status and Infrastructure Support Bill, designed to secure increased federal funding for Lagos as Nigeria’s commercial hub.
Similarly, he pledged to sponsor a Local Government Autonomy and Recognition Bill aimed at granting full recognition to the 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos to deepen grassroots development.
Oladejo further disclosed plans to champion a National Youth Skills and Employment Development Bill to drive large-scale job creation through vocational and digital skills training.
“This package includes enabling artisans to become self-employed and economically independent,” he stated.
In addition, the former Commissioner for Special Duties in Lagos State promised to sponsor bills focussing on public education support, mental health integration into primary healthcare, MSME growth, social welfare protection and community healthcare access.
Speaking further, Oladejo identified education as a critical pillar of his proposed representation, pledging free JAMB and GCE forms for indigent students as well as tuition-focused scholarships for outstanding students in public institutions.
He added that priority attention would be given to students studying strategic courses, including ICT, Engineering, Medicine, Cybersecurity, Environmental Sciences and Mental Health-related disciplines.
Furthermore, he promised to revive debate and quiz competitions in secondary schools to promote intellectual development among students.
On economic empowerment, Oladejo disclosed plans to collaborate with the Industrial Training Fund to organise re-skilling programmes and provide equipment support for artisans and tradesmen across the constituency.
According to him, sustainable empowerment must move beyond handouts to initiatives capable of creating long-term economic stability and self-reliance.
“We are not merely talking about empowerment; we are building a stronger local economy driven by skills, innovation and self-employment,” he said.
The APC chieftain also unveiled plans to expose students and youths to broader learning opportunities through educational and cultural excursions.
He noted that students would benefit from visits to strategic institutions, including the Dangote Refinery, Lagos State House of Assembly and the National Assembly.
At the same time, he pledged deliberate promotion of Yoruba language, culture and heritage through cultural engagement programmes targeted at younger generations.
