Skoda’s Smallest EV: Skoda has unveiled the Epiq, its smallest and most affordable electric SUV globally, as part of the company’s wider electrification push. Positioned below the Elroq in Skoda’s EV line-up, the Epiq is aimed primarily at Europe and will serve as the brand’s new entry-level electric model. Skoda says the Epiq could achieve price parity with the ICE-powered Kamiq in several international markets.

New Design Debut: The Epiq is the first production Skoda to fully adopt the company’s Modern Solid design language. The compact SUV gets a glossy black ‘Tech-Deck Face’, slim T-shaped LED lighting signatures and a redesigned front bumper with vertical air channels. Measuring 4,171mm long with a 2,601mm wheelbase, the Epiq also has aerodynamic upgrades, including active cooling shutters and an optimised underbody, helping achieve a drag coefficient of 0.275.

Packed With Features: Inside, the Epiq gets a minimalist cabin layout with a 13-inch Android-based touchscreen infotainment system and a compact digital driver display. Skoda has retained physical controls for key functions on the dashboard and steering wheel. Depending on the variant, features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, ambient lighting, USB-C ports and an optional panoramic sunroof with an electric sunblind.

Big On Practicality: Despite its compact dimensions, Skoda says the Epiq has one of the most spacious cabins in its segment. The electric SUV offers a 475-litre boot, which can expand to 1,344 litres with the rear seats folded. There is also a 25-litre front storage compartment for charging cables and smaller items. Additional storage spaces, a floating centre console and sustainable interior materials are also part of the package.

Two Battery Choices: The Epiq is based on Volkswagen Group’s MEB Entry and MEB+ electric platform architecture and will be offered with two battery options — 38.5kWh and 55kWh. The smaller LFP battery delivers a claimed range of up to 310km, while the larger NMC battery increases the claimed range to 440km. Power outputs range from 114bhp to 208bhp, while torque figures vary between 267Nm and 290Nm through a front-wheel-drive setup.

Fast Charging Support: Skoda says the larger 55kWh battery can charge from 10 to 80% in around 24 minutes using a DC fast charger. The Epiq also supports bidirectional charging functions, including vehicle-to-load, vehicle-to-home and vehicle-to-grid capability, depending on infrastructure availability. Additional EV-focused functions include one-pedal driving and adjustable regenerative braking aimed at improving energy recovery in city driving conditions.

Safety Tech Included: The Epiq will be offered with seven airbags, including a centre airbag, along with disc brakes on all four wheels. Higher variants will also get advanced driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane assist, rear traffic alert, traffic sign recognition and upgraded parking assistance features. Skoda will also offer optional Matrix LED headlights with adaptive lighting modes and glare-free high beam functionality.

India Launch Unclear: Skoda has not officially confirmed an India launch timeline for the Epiq yet. While some reports suggest the electric SUV could arrive in India as a full import, the company has earlier indicated plans to develop a separate EV specifically for the Indian market. If launched here, the Epiq is expected to compete in the premium compact EV segment, although pricing could be affected by import duties.
