Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that security personnel at the Federal High Court physically assaulted one of his lawyers while attempting to gain access to the court premises.
Sowore made the claim in a statement posted on social media, where he accused court officials of turning the Federal High Court into what he described as “a center for the dehumanization of lawyers and litigants.”
According to him, the incident occurred after his legal team insisted on being allowed into the court premises to attend to their cases. He condemned the alleged treatment of lawyers and litigants, expressing frustration over the state of the judicial system in Nigeria.
“The Federal High Court has now been reduced to a center for the dehumanization of lawyers and litigants. Today, court security personnel physically assaulted one of my lawyers simply for insisting that we be allowed into the court premises to attend to our cases. Nigeria is finished!” Sowore wrote.
The Federal High Court authorities are yet to officially respond to the allegation as of the time of filing this report.
