The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, has shared his thoughts on a clip featuring Peter Obi discussing how his predecessor purchased a lodge for him in the Federal Capital Territory.…....
Yunusa Tanko’s response was included in a message he posted on his official X account on Friday, May 22, 2026.
In the online video, Peter Obi mentioned that the lodge was bought by his predecessor for N800 million and furnished with an additional N200 million.
The former governor of Anambra state stated that upon realizing his administration was spending N10 million each month to maintain the lodge, he found that amount excessive.
Here is what Peter Obi expressed;
“Why should an Anambra state governor have a lodge in Abuja? For God’s sake, I don’t reside in Abuja, so why should I have a lodge there? My predecessor acquired it for N800 million and we invested 200 million in furnishing, and then we were spending around N10 million each month to keep it operational. I said no, this is unsustainable. It costs too much.”
In response, Yunusa Tanko praised Peter Obi for being careful with finances. He remarked that the former governor of Anambra has been unwavering in his push for lower governance costs.
