According to a report by Nigerian Tribune on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in a viral video circulating online, the monarch revealed that after ascending the throne, he came under intense public pressure because he was unable to have children with some of his wives. According to him, his first marriage lasted eight years without a child, while another wife later left after facing the same situation.
The traditional ruler explained that the issue became a major concern for many people, with some openly accusing him of being impotent and claiming he had sacrificed his manhood. He said the comments deeply affected him and pushed him into serious prayers and spiritual reflection.
The monarch added that he began questioning himself and seeking answers as the pressure continued to grow. However, he said things later changed after what he described as divine intervention.
The Ooni expressed gratitude to God after eventually welcoming a child while on the throne, saying it brought relief and happiness to him and the royal household.
His remarks surfaced shortly after he announced the birth of twin boys with one of his queens, Mariam Ajibola.
In his words, “The wife I married for eight years did not bear children. The second one came, and it was still the same thing; she also left. I began to ask myself whether I had offended God or whether there was no God. The third one also came. To cut the long story short, things were difficult, and many people came to me saying I was impotent.”
