The Anambra State Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Charles Anueyiagu, has said that a joint ticket between former presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, presents a formidable force and could drive Nigeria’s rebirth and national renewal.
NOP NIGERIA reports that Anueyiagu made this known on Thursday during a media briefing in Awka, urging both Obidient and Kwankwasian movements to collapse their structures into a single platform to strengthen electoral prospects.
According to him, the political movements share a common objective of promoting good governance, and a merger would consolidate support in the north and south, increasing the chances of electoral success in 2027.
Anueyiagu noted that the proposed alliance would represent a departure from a governance system that has failed to meet the expectations of Nigerians.
He also referenced the 2023 presidential election, stating that combining the votes secured by Obi and Kwankwaso would provide a stronger electoral base.
He said, “The Obidient and Kwankwasian movements are strong independent bodies serving the same purpose to give Nigeria good governance.
“In the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi scored over eight million votes, while Rabiu Kwankwaso recorded over one million votes. If combined, the figures present a formidable force.”
Anueyiagu stressed that lessons from the 2023 election had strengthened supporters’ resolve, expressing confidence that a united front would produce better outcomes.
He noted, “The experience of the 2023 election has taught us valuable lessons. I believe that bringing these forces together will help salvage the country and deliver positive results.”
Anueyiagu stressed that national renewal requires collective effort across ethnic and regional lines, urging Nigerians to unite in pursuit of accountable leadership and improved governance.
He added, “National rebirth is not the responsibility of one tribe but a collective duty. Nigerians must come together to confront hardship, restore accountability, and build a better future.”
