Abena told her painful story on Oyerepa Afutuo on Oyerepa TV. She said she met Kwame Agyemang, popularly called Dada, when she was just 17 years old and working as an apprentice. The man promised to marry her. He even went to her father’s house to give his word. Six months later, she got pregnant and Dada took her to live with his mother.
She stayed in that house for 10 years. She gave birth to two children for him. She cooked, she suffered, she waited. But Dada was secretly planning something else behind her back.
Dada’s elder brother lives in Belgium. When the brother could not travel to Ghana for his own marriage ceremony, Dada stood in for him. Videos of the event were recorded and sent abroad. A friend of the brother’s wife saw Dada in the video and developed interest in him. They exchanged contacts and things moved fast.
While Abena was still living in the house, the family quietly asked her to go visit her own father. She obeyed. She did not know it was a trick. While she was away, they organised a full marriage ceremony for Dada and the Belgian woman right there in the same house she had been living in for 10 years.
To make matters worse, Dada’s family told the Belgian woman that Abena was just a maid in the house who mistakenly got pregnant. They wiped away 10 years of her life with one lie.
Abena said the family later explained to her that Dada only married the Belgian woman to get travel documents to go abroad.
She is now demanding compensation. She wants justice for herself and her two children who are caught in the middle of this painful betrayal.
