The Tinubu Farmers’ Support (TFS) Programme has empowered no fewer than 1,000 farmers across Ondo State, with the distribution of key agricultural inputs aimed at improving productivity and strengthening farming activities in rural communities.

The intervention, which comes at a critical point in the planting season, is already being described by beneficiaries as both timely and impactful. Farmers said the support would ease operations on their farms, reduce labour intensity and ultimately improve yields.

Under the programme, sponsored by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, beneficiaries received items including sprayers and rain boots. Many noted that the tools would significantly cut down manual effort while improving efficiency across different stages of farm work.

Participants also commended the organisers for reaching rural farmers at a time when rising input costs and labour demands continue to pose challenges to agricultural productivity.

Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Director General of SGN, Dayo Awude, said the TFS Programme is designed to strengthen grassroots agriculture and support food production in alignment with the Federal Government’s food security agenda.

He explained that the initiative forms part of a broader framework of social interventions targeted at improving rural livelihoods and complementing ongoing economic reforms under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Awude further called for sustained public support for key infrastructure projects in the state, including the dualisation of the Akure–Ore road, Akure–Ado Ekiti road, Ilesha–Akure–Benin corridor, and the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, stressing that their full impact depends on continued backing.

He also pointed to earlier SGN initiatives such as the Tinubu Free Fuel (TFF) programme for commercial transport operators, the BTO Widows’ Mite initiative, and the distribution of aprons to market women, noting that they reflect a consistent focus on grassroots engagement and socio-economic support.

“The successful completion of the TFS Programme across Ondo State underscores its expanding reach,” he said, “and its role in delivering community-focused initiatives in support of development programmes and the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
