Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have repelled an attack by ISWAP fighters on a forward operating base in Magumeri, killing several insurgents and recovering weapons.

The incident occurred in the early hours of 7 May 2026, when terrorists attempted to infiltrate the Forward Operating Base under Sector 3 of the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, taking advantage of poor visibility.

Military authorities said although the attackers breached a small section of the camp, troops responded swiftly and decisively, containing the assault and neutralising scores of the insurgents.

Subsequent clearance operations in the area revealed blood trails, dragged bodies and recovered corpses, indicating heavy casualties among the fleeing terrorists.

Troops also recovered a cache of weapons, including PKT automatic anti-aircraft guns and AK-47 rifles with magazines.

However, two soldiers were killed during the encounter, while an officer and other injured personnel are said to be in stable condition and receiving treatment.

The military also reported that some equipment and temporary structures were destroyed by fire during the exchange.

Troops have since launched follow-up operations to consolidate gains and assess the full extent of damage inflicted on the terrorists.

The military high command commended the troops for their performance, urging them to sustain the momentum in ongoing operations against insurgents in the North-East.
