According to the Anadolu agency, with negotiations hanging in the balance, US President Donald Trump made clear on Wednesday that Washington is not prepared to ease pressure on Iran without a signed agreement in hand.…....
Speaking as talks between the two countries enter what he described as a decisive phase, Trump said the United States would keep all sanctions in place and continue restricting Iran’s oil trade unless Tehran accepts a new deal. His remarks, carried by the Iraqi News Agency, underscored how fragile the diplomatic window remains despite weeks of renewed engagement.
“I will not lift any sanctions on Iran until we reach an agreement,” Trump said.
He also dismissed speculation that Washington might soften restrictions on Iranian oil exports as a gesture during negotiations.
“I will not grant Iran any oil waivers until they sign an agreement, and we have not offered to do so,” he added.
The comments arrive at a moment of rising uncertainty across the region. Iranian officials have recently signaled cautious openness to diplomacy, while simultaneously insisting the US must demonstrate genuine commitment if negotiations are to succeed. Behind the scenes, both governments appear to be testing whether years of hostility can be pushed toward a workable compromise — or whether another confrontation is looming.
Trump’s language reflected both pressure and urgency. He warned that if Tehran failed to respond in a way Washington considered acceptable, events could escalate quickly.
“If we do not get the right answers from Iran, things will move very quickly, and we are all ready to act,” he pointed out, noting at the same time that “there are smart and talented people in Iran, and we hope they will reach a good deal for both sides.”
He suggested the coming days could prove decisive.
“If we get 100% correct answers from Iran, we will save a lot of time, effort, and lives. Things may move very quickly, or they may take a few days, but they could also end very quickly.”
For now, the message from Washington is unmistakable: economic pressure will remain firmly in place unless diplomacy produces a concrete deal.
