Two leading aspirants of the All Progressives Congress in Kebbi State, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah and Sani M. Kabiru, have stepped down from the party’s senatorial primary elections slated for May 18, 2026.
Na’Allah, a former representative of Kebbi South Senatorial District, announced his withdrawal in a letter dated May 17 and addressed to the APC state chairman in Birnin Kebbi.
Explaining his decision, Na’Allah said, “After careful consultations and credible information available to me regarding the disposition of the party toward the forthcoming primary election, I have decided to withdraw from the contest.”
He added that despite his years of commitment and sacrifices toward the growth of the APC as a founding member at both state and national levels, he chose to step aside in the interest of party unity.
“I have dedicated over 14 years to building and strengthening this party. My decision is borne out of respect for the unity, peace, and progress of the APC,” he stated.
The former lawmaker also appreciated his supporters and constituents for their backing, particularly those who contributed financially toward the purchase of his nomination form.
“I remain grateful to my supporters and the good people of Kebbi South for their trust, encouragement, and sacrifices throughout this journey,” Na’Allah added.
Similarly, Sani M. Kabiru, popularly known as Kabiru Sani Giant, who was contesting for the Kebbi Central Senatorial District ticket, announced his withdrawal from the race.
In his letter, also dated May 16 and addressed to the party leadership, Kabiru said his decision was informed by “personal, political, and strategic considerations.”
He thanked party leaders, campaign coordinators, and supporters for standing by him throughout his aspiration.
“I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming support and solidarity shown to me by party stakeholders, supporters, and members of my campaign team,” Kabiru stated.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and pledged continued support for the party’s future electoral victories.
“My commitment to the APC remains unwavering, and I will continue to work for the success and stability of our great party,” he added.
The withdrawals come amid growing political realignments and internal manoeuvring within the APC in Kebbi State ahead of the senatorial primaries.
