In a recent interview shared by Arise News, Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Lawal Batagarawa, has weighed in on the internal dynamics of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stressing that public statements by prominent figures should not be taken as the collective position of the party.….....
Speaking during the interview, Batagarawa addressed ongoing political alignments and tensions within the opposition, particularly reactions linked to the stance of Nyesom Wike. He clarified that differing opinions exist within political blocs and should be understood within that context.
According to him, “Wike is not the only member of the PDP in his wing; what he says publicly does not reflect the positions of all others assumed to be in his wing.” He explained that political parties are made up of diverse stakeholders with varying interests, and internal consultations often shape final decisions.
Batagarawa noted that ongoing engagements among opposition actors remain active despite public disagreements. He emphasized the importance of dialogue, compromise, and strategic cooperation in strengthening democratic processes ahead of future elections.
He further stated that internal diversity should not be mistaken for disunity, adding that it can serve as a foundation for broader consensus building. He concluded that sustained political engagement remains essential for stability and effective opposition politics in Nigeria.
