Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, speaking at the 2026 Workers’ Day in Akure, reaffirmed his commitment to improving workers’ welfare, urging them to support government reforms with greater productivity, discipline and integrity.
He highlighted key achievements, including prompt payment of salaries, cash-backed promotions, recruitment of about 4,000 workers, clearance of pension and gratuity arrears, and expansion of healthcare and infrastructure. He also noted efforts to tackle insecurity through strengthening the Amotekun Corps and improving inter-agency collaboration.
The governor emphasized ongoing poverty alleviation programmes through empowerment initiatives, skills training and agricultural support, while calling for stronger collaboration between government and labour.
Additionally, he assured candidates affected by irregularities in the SUBEB recruitment exercise that qualified applicants would be properly absorbed into the system.
