Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has shared fresh relationship advice with men, urging husbands to avoid keeping grudges against their wives and instead embrace open communication when conflicts arise in marriage.
The actor made the remarks in a post shared on his X account, where he stressed that silence and emotional withdrawal only create deeper problems in relationships.
According to Yul, many marital disagreements can be resolved when couples sit down to have honest conversations rather than allowing resentment to build over time.
“Men, don’t keep malice with your wife. You’re the head of your home,” he wrote.
He explained that even when a partner appears to be at fault, there may be underlying issues or reactions connected to previous actions within the relationship. Because of this, he believes couples should always seek understanding through dialogue instead of shutting each other out emotionally.
“No matter what your wife does to you, have a one-on-one conversation with her about it, tell her your mind and iron things out. It might be her fault, or she could be reacting to something you did to her,” he stated.
The actor further emphasised that difficult conversations are necessary for healthy marriages and should not be avoided out of pride or anger.
“You can only find out when you communicate. Weak men avoid difficult conversations. Real men discuss issues no matter how tough they are. Communication is highly essential in marriage,” he added.
Yul Edochie has become known for frequently sharing his opinions on relationships, family life, masculinity and marriage through social media, often sparking mixed reactions from fans and critics alike.
Over the years, the actor has posted several controversial takes on relationships, especially following developments in his own personal life.
Earlier in the year, he advised men to leave relationships where they constantly feel disrespected or emotionally drained. In another widely discussed post in 2024, he encouraged unmarried women to take bold steps in their relationships by proposing marriage to their partners if they believed the relationship was no longer moving forward.
His comments on marriage often generate intense debate online because of the public scrutiny surrounding his own family life.
The actor became one of the most talked-about celebrities in Nigeria in 2022 after publicly unveiling actress Judy Austin as his second wife while also announcing the birth of their child together.
The revelation triggered widespread backlash on social media, particularly from supporters of his first wife, May Edochie, who many Nigerians sympathised with following the announcement.
The controversy surrounding the actor’s family life continued into 2023 when May Edochie reportedly filed for divorce and demanded N100 million in damages over the collapse of their marriage.
Despite the criticism he regularly receives online, Yul has continued to share advice about relationships and family matters, insisting that communication remains one of the strongest foundations for any successful marriage.
His latest remarks also come at a time when conversations about relationships and emotional behaviour in marriages are dominating social media discussions, especially amid the public dispute involving media personality Frank Edoho and his estranged wife Sandra Edoho.
Frank Edoho had previously gone viral after describing himself as someone who uses silence as punishment during disagreements in relationships.
“The best punishment I can give a woman is malice. I can stay in the same house with you, but I’ll not talk to you if you cross the line. My wife knows now. I am the king of malice. I will not talk to you,” Frank had said during an earlier interview.
Yul’s statement has since generated reactions online, with many social media users debating whether silence or communication is the healthier approach to resolving conflicts in marriage.
