Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has weighed in on the importance of communication in marriages, expressing concern that many men are gradually drifting away from qualities he considers essential to true manhood.
Speaking on the Honest Bunch podcast, Edochie argued that a man who keeps malice with his wife falls short of his role as the head and leader of the home.
Rather than giving the silent treatment, he urged men to directly address whatever issue their partner may have caused, talk it through, and resolve it openly.
He also advised that if a relationship has run its course, the man should say so plainly rather than bottling things up or withdrawing.
He noted that open conversations often reveal underlying grievances on both sides, which could help couples better understand each other and find a way forward.
Edochie further stressed that poor communication is one of the leading causes of marital breakdown, and that men who resort to keeping malice instead of addressing problems head-on are displaying weakness rather than strength.
He called on men to take the lead in fostering honest dialogue within their homes.
