A Benue-based activist, Meddy Olotu, has raised concerns over an abandoned building in the state, alleging that it has been repeatedly used as a ransom collection point by kidnappers.
According to Olotu, families of at least two kidnap victims were instructed to deliver ransom payments at the location. He claimed that among the victims linked to the alleged ransom drop-off point were the JAMB candidates who were previously abducted.
The activist called on security agencies and relevant authorities to urgently investigate the abandoned structure and verify the claims surrounding its alleged use by criminal elements.
Olotu expressed concern that if the allegations are confirmed, the location may have served as a strategic point for kidnappers to receive payments while avoiding detection.
He urged law enforcement agencies to intensify surveillance around the area and take necessary steps to dismantle any criminal network that may be operating from the location.
