Bini people who backed the Ijaws against other groups are now being warned that the tide is turning against them. “Rain don fall reach una your gate o… una never see anything yet,” observers have cautioned.
Ondo State has also been placed on notice, with fears that the Ijaws may adopt similar legal tactics, including dragging the Independent National Electoral Commission to court to challenge political outcomes.
Critics argue that the Ijaws are becoming a serious threat to every ethnic group in the Niger Delta with their relentless land grabbing and constant disruption of peace.
The warning is stark: never allow even one Ijaw to set up a small fishing camp on your land.
Give them two weeks and you will return to find 20 of them settled there, claiming their ancestors descended from heaven to claim your territory.
Try to chase them out, and they will threaten to kill you and your entire family.
The call for vigilance is now spreading across the region as communities brace for potential conflicts.
