Breaking: IGP Disu appoints new Force Public Relations Officer

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the appointment of Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, a Chief Superintendent of Police, as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO).

He takes over from Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anthony Okon Placid, who has been redeployed to Lagos State.

The redeployment of Placid is with immediate effect

Though no official statement has been issued on the development as at press time, it was gathered that the change was part of IGP Disu’s move to reposition the Nigeria Police Force.

Available record showed that before his appointment, CSP Iniedu served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he coordinated public complaint management and championed initiatives aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.

He previously served as Public Relations Officer of the Police College of Information Technology, Kobape, Ogun State, and held several operational and administrative positions across the country.

His career includes appointments as Operations Officer at Maisandari Division in Yobe State, Area Crime Officer at Umuahia Area Command in Abia State, Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat, Force Headquarters, Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa, and Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room, where he coordinated the dissemination of crime and security information nationwide.

A native of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, CSP Iniedu is a seasoned police officer with extensive experience in public communication, operational policing, intelligence management, institutional accountability and administration.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo and has participated in several professional trainings covering investigative interviewing, crime scene management, human rights-based policing, strategic communication, and intelligence analysis.
