China has reclaimed the title of the world’s supercomputing leader after its new LineShine system overtook the United States’ El Capitan to become the most powerful supercomputer on the planet.
The machine, located in Shenzhen, achieved a speed of 2.2 exaflops and was built entirely with Chinese-designed processors. It is the first Chinese system to top the global TOP500 ranking since 2017.
The development highlights China’s growing ability to build advanced technology without relying on foreign-made chips, intensifying the global race for technological leadership.
Do you think China will eventually overtake the US in advanced technology and artificial intelligence?
