A political moment at a recent All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Ebonyi State has gone viral after the live band unexpectedly performed the popular 2023 campaign chant “Obi Kererenke Obi,” originally associated with Labour Party’s presidential candidate Peter Obi.
The rally, reportedly organized to reaffirm support for President Bola Tinubu and local APC leaders including Dave Umahi and Governor Francis Nwifuru ahead of the 2027 political cycle, was meant to showcase unity and political realignment in the state. However, the brief shift in music quickly became the most talked-about moment online.
Supporters of Peter Obi interpreted the chant as symbolic, while APC loyalists dismissed it as a routine Igbo musical expression with no political meaning.
