“Enough Is Enough” – CAN Sets Aside June 14 as ‘Black Sunday’ for Victims of T+rrorist Att@ck

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has declared Sunday, June 14, 2026, as a nationwide “Black Sunday” in honour of victims of terrorism, kidnappings and other violent attacks across Nigeria.

The announcement was made after the 2026 National Church Denominational Leadership Summit, where church leaders expressed concern over the country’s worsening security situation.

CAN also unveiled a three-day prayer programme scheduled for June 12 to June 14, aimed at seeking divine intervention and peace across the nation.

Speaking after the summit, CAN President, Daniel Okoh, stressed that while prayer remains important, it must be accompanied by decisive government action.

According to him, prayers alone cannot solve the insecurity crisis facing the country.

Okoh called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on insecurity, support the establishment of state police, and decentralise the nation’s security architecture to enable quicker responses to threats.

He also demanded the release of kidnapped victims and called for justice for families and communities affected by ongoing violence.

The declaration comes amid growing concerns over attacks, abductions and killings in several parts of the country, with religious leaders urging authorities to take stronger measures to protect lives and property.

In other news,…. Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has stirred reactions after expressing confidence that Igbo communities in the state will support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections.

Speaking on political developments in the state, Oborevwori said the voting pattern of Igbo communities in Delta has changed since the 2023 elections. According to him, the communities are now aligned with his political direction and are expected to vote for the APC rather than individual candidates.

“The Igbo communities in Delta that did not vote for the APC’s candidate in 2023 did not repeat that voting pattern during my election. We are on the same page. This time I have told them not to vote on an individual basis but to vote for the party. I am confident they will vote for the APC,” he said.

The governor’s remarks quickly generated reactions online, with many Nigerians questioning his confidence and debating whether voters should support political parties or individual candidates.

“He says there’s nothing God cannot do. So he knows where his party is in the minds of his people. Only that he believes in miracles. That’s it, nothing short of miracle will do the magic.”

@Abdulsali_
“Can u imagine they should vote party not candidate, so tomorrow they should also hold party responsible not to protect them against bandits.”
