Florentino Perez has secured another term as Real Madrid president and has outlined ambitious plans for the club, including the return of Jose Mourinho and a major investment in the playing squad.
The 79-year-old was re-elected on Sunday, extending his leadership of the Spanish giants until 2030.
Perez, who has overseen one of the most successful periods in the club’s history, pledged to continue pursuing trophies and strengthening the team.
“We are going to keep working so that Real Madrid keeps winning more titles,” Perez told supporters after his victory was announced.
The result ensures Perez remains in charge of the club he has led for much of the last two decades, a period that has delivered multiple domestic and European titles.
Mourinho set for Bernabeu return
One of the biggest developments following the election is the expected return of Jose Mourinho to Real Madrid.
The Portuguese manager previously coached the club between 2010 and 2013, winning a La Liga title, a Copa del Rey and a Spanish Super Cup during his first spell in charge.
Perez expressed his support for the move during the election process.
“I am proud that Jose Mourinho, one of the best coaches in the world, is set to return,” he said.
Mourinho’s arrival is viewed as part of a wider effort to restore consistency and competitiveness after a difficult period for the club.
Big-money signing on the agenda
Perez has also promised significant investment in the squad, including the pursuit of a marquee signing reportedly valued at more than €150 million.
The Real Madrid president is said to be targeting several reinforcements, with defenders and attacking players among the club’s priorities during the transfer window.
While the identity of the proposed signing has not been officially confirmed, reports have linked the club with several high-profile names, including Michael Olise and Vitinha.
Perez’s plans reflect the club’s long-standing “Galacticos” philosophy of combining elite talent with commercial appeal.
Meanwhile, challenger Enrique Riquelme accepted defeat after the election but indicated that he could contest future presidential races.
“For us, this is not the end, this is the beginning,” Riquelme said. “Real Madrid won’t spend another 20 years without holding elections.”
