Hunter Biden has mocked Donald Trump after the president sneered at the idea of him running for the White House in 2028.
Joe Biden’s son posted a clip of Trump taking a question about his presidential prospects in the Oval Office Thursday, ironically referring to himself as “the MAGA whisperer” as he did so.
In it, Trump was asked whether he believed Biden might one day occupy his chair by Fox News’s White House correspondent Peter Doocy, to which he replied: “Well, you would think that past has something to do with winning an election and I would say his past is not that great.
“‘Where’s Hunter?’ You remember my ‘Where’s Hunter?’ It became the number one shirt anywhere in the world for about three weeks… I’m not going to say…
“Hey, if the guy from Maine can do well, I guess Hunter could do well too,” Trump continued. “The guy from Maine is a basket case and, I would say, worse than him is the guy from Texas that looks like Alfred E Neuman.
“I would say that if he can do well, maybe Hunter can do well. I’m not sure. It’ll be pretty close as far as I’m concerned.”
Trump was referring to Maine Senate Democratic candidate Graham Platner in the first instance and to his Texas counterpart James Talerico in the second as part of his attack on Hunter.
Biden responded with a sharp putdown: “Wait… Did he just say checkered past ? I’m 28 felonies, 6 bankruptcies, and an Epstein bromance short of his checkered past.”
“Also on a serious note. I would like Peter Douchey [sic] to please ask the president when I get my royalty check for those where’s Hunter t-shirts. It’s been 4 years now and he keeps telling me the check is in the mail.”
Trump has said he ended his relationship with Epstein before he was convicted and has always denied any wrongdoing in connection with the disgraced financier.
Biden, 56, only joined X just last month but has already won fans for his putdowns and self-deprecating jokes about drug use.
The president appeared to get wind of the broadsides because he subsequently posted a meme of Biden on his own platform, Truth Social.
Trump mocked the younger man’s reinvention as artist by photoshopping an image of him over his sketch pad so that it looked like he was drawing a fine pencil portrait of Trump.
Biden’s belated recent entry into the world of social media has seen the former corporate executive celebrate seven years of sobriety after a long battle with drug addiction, which he frankly addressed in his 2021 memoir Beautiful Things.
He remains a hate figure to Trump’s political movement, with the likes of Laura Loomer continuing to troll him over his past personal problems.
However, Biden has already shown himself more than capable of giving as good as he gets.
“So let me get this straight,” he wrote in a post summing up recent events Wednesday. “Jake Tapper is focused on attacking my Mom.
“Jared and Ivanka are building a private island paradise on Albanian protected land. Don Jr married the daughter of Epstein’s banker, and a startup his fund backs just got a record $620M Pentagon loan.
“Eric is taking an Israeli drone company public for $1.5B in the middle of a war with Iran that nobody wanted. And I know: ‘But what about your paintings, Hunter?’ Please.”
