Lagos lawmaker and actor-turned-politician Desmond Elliot has generated reactions online following a statement in which he promised to donate ₦1 million while emphasizing that he does not steal while serving in public office.
Speaking during an appearance on the Morayo show, Elliot said he would look for ₦1 million to donate, adding that he was unsure where he would get the money because his style of politics does not involve stealing public funds.
According to him:
“I will look for 1million Naira to donate to you, I don’t know where I will get the money from because my own kind of politics I don’t steal.”
The statement quickly attracted attention on social media, with many users reacting humorously while others questioned the comment and its implications.
The lawmaker’s remarks come shortly after he reiterated in a separate interview that honesty remains the foundation of his political career and that he does not engage in corruption while in office.
