Iran said it launched attacks on 21 US interests across West Asia in retaliation for overnight American strikes on Iranian territory, widening the latest escalation between Washington and Tehran.
The Armed Forces said targets included the Ali al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait and other US-linked military sites in the region, according to Iranian state broadcaster IRIB. Iran also claimed it shot down a US MQ-9 drone over the city of Jam near the northern Persian Gulf.
The attacks came hours after US forces struck Iranian targets after a US Apache helicopter went down near the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran reportedly launched missile and drone attacks toward US-linked sites in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan. Bahrain and Kuwait activated air defence systems and sounded alerts.
Meanwhile, Jordan’s military said it intercepted five Iranian missiles headed toward an area near the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, which hosts US forces. Jordanian authorities said there were no injuries and explosives experts were examining debris from the intercepted missiles.

In Bahrain, Iran targeted the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain.
Initial assessments indicated nearly all incoming Iranian missiles and drones were intercepted, and there were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage to US facilities, Reuters reported, citing official sources.
The exchange of attacks is taking place despite both the US and Iran signing an agreement to extend the ceasefire for another 60 days from May 28. It also shows little hope for the war to end, though President Trump said it will reach a conclusive end within two weeks and that diplomatic engagements were underway.
The West Asia war is now in its fourth month since it broke out on February 28.
Hostilities have continued in southern Lebanon too, with Hezbollah on Wednesday claiming a series of drone, missile, and rocket attacks targeting Israeli troops, armoured vehicles, and command posts in the region.
