Fox News host Jesse Watters highlighted a brief but historic pause in hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, urging caution as the Trump administration navigates complex, high-stakes peace negotiations with Iran in Switzerland.
Speaking on his program, Watters noted that a single day of quiet had finally been achieved on the volatile border.
“Yesterday was the first time shots weren’t fired between Israel and Hezbollah since March,” Watters announced. “So we have one day under our belt. Congrats, guys.”
The lull comes on the heels of intense diplomatic maneuvering led by Vice President J.D. Vance at a summit in Lake Lucerne, Switzerland.
The weekend talks yielded significant preliminary agreements, including a coordination mechanism to demine the Straits of Hormuz and a Hezbollah hotline intended to let Israeli and Hezbollah forces communicate directly to de-escalate flare-ups.
However, Watters expressed deep skepticism regarding the longevity of the pause, casting doubt on the willingness of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to halt military operations while a final deal with Tehran is being finalized.
“The question is, Netanyahu has an itchy trigger finger,” Watters observed. “How do we keep it in check until we sign the final Iran deal?”
He emphasized that Israel’s military posture has remained aggressive for months following the Hamas-led attacks on southern Israel. “Israel’s been on the warpath since October 7th I get it,” Watters said. “And he doesn’t seem to be ready to call it quits.”
