Man Says He’s Ashamed as Yoruba Man, Compares Abia and Ogbomoso Responses to Kidnappings

A man in a viral video has sparked widespread reactions on social media after expressing disappointment over what he described as the differing responses of communities to kidnapping incidents in parts of Nigeria.

In the video, the unidentified speaker claimed that residents of a community in Abia State recently mobilised and entered nearby bushes to assist in the search for victims allegedly kidnapped by suspected Fulani herdsmen. According to him, the victims were rescued within 24 hours following the community-led efforts.

Contrasting the situation with recent insecurity concerns in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, the man lamented that local youths have been unable to venture into the forests following the reported kidnapping of school children and teachers in the area.

Expressing his frustration, he said he felt “ashamed” as a Yoruba man, arguing that communities should take a more proactive role in supporting security efforts against criminal activities.
