Gary retired early after working for 30 years as a delivery driver following the life-changing win.
He carried bouquets of flowers and Lotto lucky dip tickets for his former colleagues, a gesture he said was truly worthwhile.
The elderly man had made a promise to return to the Lakeside Shopping Centre, where he worked for more than three decades, to share his good fortune with former colleagues and friends.
After his win in 2025, the former delivery driver married his long-term partner, Anita and relocated to Essex, where they settled in a four-bedroom detached home.

What did Gary McDonald do after winning KSh 907m?
For him, the 12 months after his win have been busy and eventful, as he not only got married and moved to a new town and home but also starred in a Lotto TV advert.
“Being a Lotto millionaire is turning out to be a full-time occupation! It’s a good job I retired early. I’m delighted to come out of retirement for the day to fulfil the promise I made myself,” he said.
For Gary, surprising his colleagues was a promise he made to himself, despite becoming a millionaire.
He shared his joy in fulfilling that promise and bringing smiles to their faces as he handed out flowers and tickets.
Donna Samuels, the manager of the Baytree Shop at Lakeside, said seeing Gary at the store was an incredible surprise, adding that he did not have to return, but his kind gesture touched everyone.
“Then again, Gary sharing the joy is typical of him. It just goes to show what a diamond he is. For as long as I can remember, Gary was here every day, rain or shine, with a joke and a smile, so when he suddenly wasn’t there one day last year, I worried there was something wrong. I was over the moon when I discovered the real reason. Winning the National Lottery honestly couldn’t have happened to a nicer chap,” she said.
