Mumin speaks as NBA Ibadan branch gets new chairman

A lawyer based in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Jimoh Munin, has spoken as the Nigerian Bar Association, Ibadan Branch elected a new chairman and other executives.

The majority of Ibadan, Oyo State-based lawyers elected Alhaji Adekola Kareem as their new chairman on June 6, 2026.

Mumin said the atmosphere was encouraging as eligible members voted massively for Kareem who defeated Chief Olalekan Thanni.

He said throughout the election, the lawyers displayed professionalism and maintained decorum. 

He said in a statement on Sunday: “As it stands, I want to use this medium to publicly call on the new chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ibadan branch, Alhaji Adekola Kareem, to fulfill all the promises he made during his electioneering campaign. 

“He must prioritise the welfare, security of lives and property of all Ibadan-based lawyers, residents and those in its environment. 

“It is crystal clear that the new chairman is a senior member of the Bar with 28 years of active practice, having gathered enough experience to run the affairs of the NBA Ibadan branch successfully. 

“Congratulations to the new chairman-elect, Alhaji Adekola Kareem. 

“I wish him a successful tenure in office.”
