Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has disclosed that he held strategic meetings with key political figures on Democracy Day, June 12, as part of efforts he described as advancing a “New Nigeria that is possible.”
In a statement titled “Together Towards the New Nigeria That Is Possible,” Obi said he met with the National Leader of the New Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), former Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, as well as the party’s Vice Presidential candidate, former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
According to him, the discussions focused on strengthening political unity, building trust among leaders, and sustaining a shared vision for national transformation.
He described the NDC as “a party barely four months old,” noting that despite early challenges, it remains committed to what he called “purposeful, compassionate leadership and democratic ideals.”
Obi also emphasized the need for political actors to embrace sacrifice, tolerance, and accommodation in order to deepen cooperation and achieve long-term national goals.
“The leaders and members of a committed political family must be willing to make sacrifices and show tolerance and accommodation, even in difficult circumstances,” he said, adding that such values are essential for unity and development.
He further expressed confidence that the NDC remains committed to serving as a political platform aimed at delivering what he termed “the New Nigeria that is possible.”
