Olympic Qualifiers: Comoros thrash Sudan 30-0, set up Super Falcons clash

Comoros have set up a second-round Olympic qualifying clash against Nigeria’s Super Falcons after recording a remarkable 30-0 aggregate victory over Sudan.

The Coelacanths completed the demolition job on Monday with a 13-0 win in the second leg, having already secured a 17-0 triumph in the first meeting on June 3.

The result sealed one of the most dominant aggregate victories in the qualification campaign for the women’s football event at the 2028 Olympic Games.

Comoros took control of the tie from the opening leg, scoring after just eight minutes before overwhelming Sudan with a relentless attacking display.

Nine different players found the net during the first encounter as the East African side showcased its attacking depth.

They maintained the same intensity in the return fixture, scoring three goals before half-time and adding 10 more after the break to complete a 13-0 victory.

The 30-0 aggregate success sends Comoros into the second round, where they will face a significantly tougher test against Africa’s most successful women’s national team.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons enter the contest as favourites after recent encouraging performances under coach Justine Madugu.

The nine-time African champions defeated Senegal 3-0 in a friendly match at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Monday night.

That result followed a 2-1 victory over the same opponents in an earlier friendly.

The second-round qualifiers are scheduled to take place between October 5 and 13, 2026.

Two African nations will qualify for the women’s football tournament at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, United States.
