Outrage as 23-Year-Old Nursing Student Dies Under Suspicious Circumstances, Landlord Arrested

The Anambra State Police Command has taken a landlord into custody following the suspected killing of a 23-year-old nursing student in Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered an accelerated investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.

The victim was reportedly a student of the College of Nursing Sciences, Alor, and her lifeless body was discovered on June 14, 2026, within the compound where she lived as a tenant.

Police officers who visited the scene observed a deep cut on her thigh, other signs of violence on her body, and blood stains around the area, raising suspicions of foul play.

Following preliminary findings, the case was transferred from the Nnobi Divisional Police Headquarters to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for a more detailed and discreet investigation.

The landlord of the property has since been detained and is currently being interrogated as part of ongoing efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The police further confirmed that the victim’s body has been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

CP Orutugu has directed investigators to ensure a thorough and professional inquiry, stressing that no stone will be left unturned in identifying and prosecuting anyone found responsible.
