Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State says that the State Government has spent more N16 billion on pension and gratuity of retirees in the last three years.
Mutfwang disclosed this during a special thanksgiving organised to commemorate three years of his administration on Sunday.
The governor, who insisted that he came into politics to serve, said he would not rest in meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the people.
He said at the event in Jos, the state capital: “Between May 2023 when we took over the government and April 2026, we have spent N16 billion on pension and gratuity.
“We are gradually clearing the arrears of pension and gratuity right from the administration of Joshua Dariye till date.
“By our calculation, we need about N60 billion to completely clear the pension and gratuities arrears in the state.
“My desire is to put a smile on the faces of all Plateau citizens and by God’s grace we will do that.”
Mutfwang, who thanked residents of the state for the support so far, urged the people to unite in all fronts.
