Police refute rumours of school closure in Kebbi

Kebbi State Police Command has dismissed rumours that some schools have been closed due to insecurity.

The command’s spokesman, SP Bashir Usman dismissed the rumours in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi.

Responding to what he described as claims of kidnapping and withdrawal of pupils from schools by parents, the PPRO said there was no iota of truth in the speculations.

He said: “I am not aware of anything like school closure, school calendar is being regulated by the State Ministry of Education.

“Students have just resumed, while graduating students are safely writing their SSCE examination across the state.

“Statewide intelligence led operations are being sustained in collaboration with all the security agencies and vigilante groups.

“Successes are visible from the recent arrests and neutralisation of criminal elements across the state.”
