Real Madrid plot €150m move for PSG midfielder Vitinha

Real Madrid are reportedly preparing a €150m move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha as club president Florentino Perez looks to make a major statement ahead of the club’s presidential election.

The Portuguese international has emerged as the leading candidate for a marquee signing, with reports suggesting Perez is ready to invest heavily to bring one of Europe’s most highly rated midfielders to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Vitinha remains under contract with PSG for another three years and has established himself as one of the French club’s most influential players, making any potential transfer a complex undertaking.

According to reports in Spain, Perez views the midfielder as the ideal headline signing as he seeks another term in office.

The proposed deal would rank among the biggest transfers in Real Madrid’s history if completed.

Spanish journalist Pacojo Delgado claimed Vitinha’s arrival could effectively settle the presidential race before voting takes place.

Delgado said: “If Florentino wants to settle the elections, the announcement of Vitinha would be the final blow.

“A knockout without even reaching Sunday.”

The journalist also highlighted the potential role of influential agent Jorge Mendes in any negotiations involving the Portuguese star.

Delgado said: “Do you really think Jorge Mendes will not make his best player available to Jose Mourinho if it is possible?”

Reports indicate that Mendes’ close relationship with both Real Madrid and Mourinho could play a significant role should negotiations progress.

Vitinha is reportedly viewed as a key figure in a wider rebuilding project linked to Mourinho’s expected arrival at the Spanish giants.

The midfielder is seen as a player capable of becoming the centrepiece of a revamped Real Madrid midfield under his fellow Portuguese.

The pursuit of Vitinha comes amid reports that Madrid have also moved to strengthen other areas of the squad.

Defender Ibrahima Konate has reportedly been lined up on a free transfer, while Dutch full-back Denzel Dumfries is also expected to join after the club allegedly activated his €20m release clause.

However, Vitinha remains the standout target as Perez prepares what could become one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer.

Any deal will ultimately depend on Real Madrid’s ability to convince PSG to part with one of their most important players, with the French champions expected to resist any attempt to lure the midfielder away from Paris.
