Residents of Lubowa Estate are on high alert after a masked man armed with a knife allegedly broke into a family home in the early hours of Monday, June 8.

According to information provided by the affected household, the intruder gained access to the residence unnoticed before being detected by the occupants.
CCTV footage later reviewed by the family reportedly showed the suspect slowly tiptoeing up the staircase while holding a knife.
The family only became aware of the stranger’s presence after hearing suspicious movements downstairs. As they investigated the noise, they discovered an unknown person inside their home.
Alarmed by the intrusion, family members screamed and rushed out of the house to seek safety. The commotion appeared to startle the suspect, who immediately abandoned his plans and fled the scene.

Security camera footage captured the masked man escaping by jumping over the property’s perimeter fence before disappearing into the neighbourhood.

Witnesses described the suspect as a limping man who appeared to move carefully through the house to avoid detection. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident, and no thefts had been confirmed at the time of reporting.
Residents are now urging homeowners to remain vigilant, ensure their security systems are functioning properly, and report any suspicious activity to authorities. Many have also called on neighbours to strengthen community watch efforts amid growing concerns about crime and economic hardships that may be driving some individuals to desperate measures.
The incident has reignited concerns about residential security in the upscale Lubowa area, a suburb located along the Kampala-Entebbe Road corridor.
