Sorrow as Maseno University professor is allegedly killed over land dispute

Rachuonyo, Kenya: Family and friends of Daniel Odhiambo Dondi have been thrown into mourning after the death of the distinguished Maseno University professor.

A sombre mood gripped residents of Kabong’o Village in Kokwanyo East Location, Rachuonyo East Sub-county, after the brutal murder of a Maseno University finance officer who was killed in what is a land-related attack.

It has emerged that Dr Odhiambo collapsed after a neighbour allegedly waylaid him and attacked him with a panga, and after he collapsed, the attacker continued assaulting him on the ground. The assault only stopped after his daughter, who witnessed the attack, raised an alarm that caused the suspect to flee.

According to dad Michael Dondi, his son and the suspect were engaged in a legal dispute over a boundary before the fatal attack.

How did authorities respond to Dondi’s attack?

According to Homa Bay County Police Commander, the suspect has since been arrested and taken to Ringa Police Station, awaiting arraignment for the heinous crime.

Odhiambo’s body was transferred to Rachuonyo South Sub-county Hospital in Oyugis Town;.

Homa Bay family mourns death of TUKO professor

In a different story, a family from Homa Bay was also thrown into mourning after the tragic death of Tom Odhiambo, a professor at the Technical University of Kenya, who was hacked to death in Mbita.

The professor and his dear dad had gone to their land for a meeting with the chief and surveyor when two attackers suddenly struck.

His father survived with injuries and was rushed to the hospital for further treatment as police launched a manhunt for the suspects.
