Johannesburg, South Africa: A woman taking part in the March and March anti-immigrant protest has stunned Kenyans after sharing that she was participating in the demos despite being married to a Congolese husband.

The March and March protests have been the subjects of heated debates in Africa and the rest of the world after South Africans started claiming that other Africans were stealing all their jobs. Additionally, they also claimed that some foreigners were selling and making their children addicted to substance abuse.

They gave foreigners until June 3 to leave their country or face the music, and even ominously said that the latter would leave either horizontally or vertically.

What happened during June 30 marches in SA?

Vanessa, who was marching in South Africa, said that she joined the anti-immigration movement despite being married to a Chinese man whom she met at 19 years old.

“We South Africans are tired of being given drugs by foreigners,” said Vanessa in deserted downtown Johannesburg.

She’s married to a Congolese man and say she’s not xenophobic; she is just against undocumented immigrants.

“We are not xenophobic; we love people … we love foreigners, but we wanted them to be documented,”she added.

How did Kenyans react to the video on xenophobia?

Mohamed H Daad:

“Being against undocumented immigration is not the same as being against foreigners. Every country has the right to enforce its immigration laws. At the same time, blaming all foreigners for crime or drugs is an unfair generalization. Problems should be addressed through evidence, due process, and the law—not by targeting people because of their nationality.”

On many undocumented foreigners in SA, I agree with them and they have their rights to voice out through demos( Doesn’t have to be violent and destructive though) Let their government address that for sure, they are to blame in alot here.
