Tinubu To Nigerians: Expose Terrorists, Bandits Or Risk Nation’s Future

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday called on Nigerians to take a more active role in the fight against insecurity by volunteering credible intelligence to security agencies, declaring that terrorists, bandits and kidnappers would not be allowed to define the nation’s future.

In a personally signed statement issued on June 8, 2026, the President charged citizens to see security as a collective responsibility, stressing that timely information from the public remains critical to ongoing operations against violent groups across the country.

“The fight against terror is not only a military operation. It is a national duty,” Tinubu said. “When you see something, say something. When you know something, report it.”

The President’s call comes amid persistent security challenges in several parts of Nigeria, including insurgency in the North-East, banditry in the North-West and kidnapping across multiple regions.

Tinubu, however, expressed confidence that Nigeria would overcome the threats, insisting that criminal elements would not be permitted to shape the country’s identity.

“Nigeria will not surrender to fear. We will not allow terrorists, bandits or kidnappers to define who we are,” he stated.

He commended the efforts of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies, describing them as a critical shield protecting citizens from those seeking to destabilise the country.

According to him, personnel of the military and allied agencies continue to operate under harsh and dangerous conditions across forests, highways, creeks and remote bases to safeguard lives and property.

“You carry the burden of national protection so that millions of Nigerians can live, work and raise their families in peace,” the President said, acknowledging the “pain, pressure and sacrifice” associated with their duties.

Tinubu also extended appreciation to the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other intelligence and local security outfits for their roles in maintaining internal security.

He paid tribute to fallen heroes who lost their lives in the line of duty, noting that their sacrifices continue to sustain the nation’s survival and stability.

“Their names may not always make headlines, but their courage lives on in the communities they helped save,” he added.

The President further recognised the families of security personnel, highlighting the emotional and social toll of long deployments and uncertain conditions.

Reaffirming his administration’s stance, Tinubu urged continued vigilance among citizens and security operatives alike, assuring that efforts to restore peace and security across the country would not relent.
