UK Deputy Chief of Defence Visits Maiduguri to Boost Counterterrorism Cooperation

The United Kingdom’s Deputy Chief of Defence Staff (Military Strategy and Operations) has visited Maiduguri, Borno State, in a strategic engagement aimed at strengthening defence and security cooperation with Nigeria.

The visit was hosted by the Headquarters of Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, where senior military officials from both countries held discussions on ongoing counterterrorism operations and regional security challenges.

During the visit, the UK delegation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s military through training collaboration, intelligence sharing, and capacity-building initiatives targeted at improving operational effectiveness in the North-East.

The Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai expressed appreciation for the UK’s continued partnership, noting that such engagements play a key role in enhancing professionalism and strengthening joint efforts against insurgency.

The meeting also underscored the long-standing defence relationship between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, particularly in areas of counterterrorism, military training, and regional stability.
