Speaking at Citi 2026 India Conference in Mumbai, on Wednesday ( June 3), Gor said the partnership between the world’s largest and oldest democracies was “globally transformative” and comes at a time when international supply chains are being reconfigured.
He said India and the United States are increasingly positioned as trusted partners in the evolving global economic landscape.
Highlighting the growing economic engagement between the two countries, Gor said that 99% of India-US trade deal is in place and last 1% is being finalised. He added that he will meet Minister Goyal tomorrow (Thursday).
Highlighting the scope of discussion, he said that everything from mangoes, IT to fuel is being discussed.
He said the agreement is expected to unlock prosperity and create opportunities for businesses and workers in both countries.
He added that President Trump remains focused on facilitating bilateral trade and expanding economic opportunities for American businesses while deepening commercial ties with India.

Emphasising the technology dimension of the relationship, Ambassador Gor said every startup he visited in India had some form of connection with the United States.
Referring to visits to IIT campuses, he said he witnessed innovations that could be life-changing over the next few years.
He also pointed to expansion plans announced by Amazon, Microsoft and Google in India as evidence of growing confidence among American companies in the country’s growth prospects.
The Ambassador said the two countries are increasingly collaborating on emerging technologies and security issues. He noted that a 40-member US delegation participated in India’s AI Summit, where a large share of participating companies were American, underscoring the depth of engagement in the technology sector.
Gor also highlighted the importance of India to the US healthcare system, noting that more than 40% of generic drugs used in the United States are sourced from India. He said the achievements of the two countries together would have a significant impact on the future global order.
Referring to a conversation between US President Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi about three weeks ago, Gor said Trump expressed admiration for the Indian leader and reiterated that the United States trusts India and wants to work closely with the country.
“What our two nations accomplish together will shape the future,” Gor said, describing the India-US relationship as “the most defining relationship” of the current era.
