VeryDarkMan schools pastor David Ibiyeomie over Islamic State comment, calls for unity

Social media activist VeryDarkMan has reacted strongly to recent comments made by Pastor David Ibiyeomie over claims that Nigeria could be turned into an Islamic state.

Taking to his Instagram page, he criticised the message, warning that such statements, when not properly explained, could create religious misunderstanding and deepen division among Nigerians.

He argued that many followers may misinterpret such sermons and begin to believe that Muslims collectively share a unified agenda, which he described as far from the reality on ground.

According to him, insecurity in Nigeria affects both Christians and Muslims, and terrorism should not be framed as a religious agenda.

“This kind of preaching by David Ibiyeomie is very dangerous, especially when it is not broken down properly. With this type of message now, 80–90% of people are leaving church with the mentality that Muslims are all in it together to Islamize Nigeria,” he said.

He further pointed out that many Muslim communities in northern Nigeria have been heavily affected by terrorist attacks, stressing that victims cut across all religions.

“Chibok is in Borno State, and Borno is a Muslim state. Zamfara is a Muslim state, and 16 farmers were killed there yesterday. These people you are saying want to Islamize Nigeria are also killing Muslims,” he added.

VDM maintained that Boko Haram and other terrorist groups have attacked both churches and mosques, insisting that the real issue is terrorism, not religion.

He also referenced cases where Islamic clerics who spoke against Boko Haram were reportedly killed by the group, including attacks inside mosques.

This comes amid conversations about religion, insecurity, and national unity, as Nigerians call for clearer communication and collective understanding in addressing terrorism.
